Happy Halloween!

Today was Quinn's first Halloween! It was a great day. We spent the morning going on a LONG walk with our friend and her babies. During our walk I saw a snake going under a bush and freaked out. So mom of the year right here, I left Quinn in her stroller by the bush and ran backwards like 10 feet while my friend Ashlee ran forward. Poor Quinn!
Quinn and I went to the commissary today and while we were waiting at the Deli she saw a balloon and kept grabbing for it and smiling. SO of course... I had to buy it for her. The whole shopping trip she just kept looking up at the balloon on our cart and smiling. She is the best ever!!
Dave got back from his TDY and we got to spend the afternoon with him. The weather here was perfect! It was beautiful and not very cold. While we were getting dinner ready we were rocking out to some Monster Mash music. Quinn loves music! She smiles, claps her hands and moves her body. I think I am going to have her a music themed birthday party because she loves it so much!
Quinn got her costume on and we passed out candy to all the kids in the neighborhood. There were not as many as I expected.
Charlie did pretty good this year because we don't have a window for him to see out of and freak out. The whole time Dave was gone he was acting crazy and wouldn't go outside or anything. Now he is doing much better! Quinnie passed out around 7:30, it was a long day for her! Here are some pictures of our little candy corn : )

Gardner Village

Today was perfect here in Utah! It was in the low 70's and sunny. Which is kind of weird since last week it was in the 30's and snowing! Today Quinnie and I joined my friend Ashlee and her kiddos on a trip to a little place called Gardner Village. It is a super cute little area with old houses that are filled with unique shops. For Halloween they have all these witches around the village doing various things. It was a fun day and I even bought a sign for our living room that got me inspired to start making our house a "home". I went to DI (if you live in Utah you know that this is Dessert Industries, a thrift store owned by the LDS church) and bought an end table for our living room. Then I went to Home Depot to buy some spray paint to make it match my sign. I realized when I got home that it doesn't match very much, so I shall be going back tomorrow with sign in hand to find the perfect color!
I don't start my new job until next week so I am hoping to get the table done this week. I am starting at the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind and am SO excited! My caseload is 23 little kiddos with hearing loss!!! *Pictures of the project and sign to follow in another post*
Here are pictures of our day. There were many attempts to get a "group shot" and we failed miserably but they are still cute. My favorite is the one where Luke is kicking the pumpkin like a soccer ball or futbol as Porter would say in Spanish.  : )

Trip to the zoo

A few weeks ago Dave had a Monday off for Columbus day. We went to the zoo with some of our friends. It was Quinn's first time to the zoo and at her age I didn't really expect too much from her but she loved it! She looked at all the animals and put her little hands on the glass.
While we were visiting the gorilla he decided to vomit and then go ahead and eat his vomit! It was so gross (please see picture below!). The weather was perfect and we had a great time. I think we will get a pass next summer, judging by how much Quinn loved it this year, I know next year she will love it more.
When my mom was in town we found this awesome place in downtown Salt Lake that sells waffles and fries-weird I know, but it is SO good!! The waffles are cinnamon and they put this cream and strawberries on them-YUM! Well since we were already downtown we had to stop by and get some waffles!
To finish up the day we went to the park with some friends and played Kan Jam. It was a good day!

Quinn even thinks it is gross : )

Snack time

I love this one <3 p="p">

8 month pictures

Quinn is 8 months old!!! Okay she was 8 months old on October 11th so we are a little late. The new thing this month is that she is crawling. That makes things interesting. She is getting so fast and as soon as you sit her down in the living room and try to go get something done she is on the move, getting into everything she isn't supposed to. One thing that she always heads straight for is the dog food.... last week she managed to eat a piece, I hope it was good!
Here are some of her 8 month pictures..... already a troublemaker : )

Train Ride

Last weekend we went to Heber City which is a city about an hour south of where we live and took a train ride in the mountains. We took the short train ride which takes you along side a lake and the mountains. They do all kinds of different rides so Dave and I want to go back and do a different one next time. They also said that in the winter it is very pretty because all the mountains are snow covered and the lake is frozen over so we will need to go back in the winter too! One thing about Utah is there is always something to do. We have so much on our Utah bucket list that I hope we get it all done before we leave!
Quinn did so great on the ride. She loves it when she is able to stand up and look out the window. (**Disclaimer, this only happens on 1. Trains, 2. Major traffic jams on the way to the Outer Banks, 3. When looking at buffalo and driving 5 miles an hour, 4. In the middle of nowhere Wyoming when we have been in the car for 15 hours. I promise that 99% of the time she is safely buckled in her car seat.**)
So on the train ride she was so happy that she could stand on our laps and look out the window. There was a girl playing the violin and every time she got near us Quinn started clapping. She loves music, her favorite toy is drum set that I bought from Target. She will pick up the drumsticks and hit the drum, it is so cute! We got her a little train book from the station so that we can read all about trains. Here are some pictures of our trip:

On the way home we took a scenic route. It took us a little longer to get home but it was so pretty!
