Q and L's new rooms

We had to do some re-arranging of rooms in our house to get ready for Leo. We have a formal dinning room on the first floor we never used that we turned into our office because Quinn took over what used to be the office upstairs. In order for that to happen we had to take apart our dinning room furniture and store it in the basement. Then the office needed to be moved downstairs and Quinn's new room needed to get put together. We left all of her nursery stuff in her old room which is now Leo's room. Quinn's new room was put together by painting a crib/toddler bed we bought from a friend and Dave's childhood dresser. It was a lot of work and I thought it would never get finished.... but it did!
I am very happy with how everything turned out. The office is still a work in progress and needs to be organized but that isn't a priority right now. I love having the office downstairs because I feel like we are actually using that space now where before we never went into the formal dining room. I am also happy with how both the kids rooms turned out. Dave did a ton of work to get the rooms done, he is a trooper!!

Here are some pictures of Leo's room. I decided to go with an alligator theme. I didn't go all out and get a bedding set like I did with Quinn because I realized how much we didn't need one. I ended up taking her bumpers off the bed once she started sleeping in it so this time I didn't even bother with getting any.  I love how the navy blue looks with the nursery furniture. I am very happy with how it turned out. I am still trying to decide if I want to add something over his crib or not.

And, no the foot rest does not match the chair. That was the ONLY thing that got lost in our move to Utah  ( I can't really complain about that I guess...) but when we went to reorder a new one, they no longer were making that color! So, we did the best we could. Thanks Air Force!

Dave had to do a lot of furniture painting to get Quinn's room ready. I do not like how we can't really paint anything since we are renting. I think the rooms would be so much nicer if we could add some color to the walls. Quinn loves her new room and she is always in there playing. The first few nights after we switched she would walk into her old room and then would turn around and walk into her new room. We are having a little bit of trouble with her not wanting to stay in her bed but I knew when we switched that would probably happen.

We are slowly getting everything ready for Leo and quickly running out of time. I need to organize his closet still but I know that isn't that important and it can wait. Our next project is to move Quinn's car seat and make room for Leo's.

Change is good, life is good.

2013 Year in Review

I am very behind in blogging so I figured I would give a quick review of 2013 before life gets hectic around here!

This little gal turned one! I can't believe how fast that went.

We were lucky to have my mom, sister and nephew come out to help us celebrate Quinn's birthday.

In March Dave graduated with a Masters in Military Operational Art and Science. I am SO happy he no longer is taking classes which take up all our weekends.

We went to Denver to celebrate the upcoming birth of our niece, Braxton. I have no pictures of people from that trip (not really sure what I was doing..).

We experienced our first Utah winter. It was interesting to say the least. It was cold with a lot of snow and nothing closes down and the grocery stores don't empty with a forecast of snow. For real, my school got 10 inches of snow one night and NO delay. I am really a not a fan of driving in the snow! On the other hand, Charlie LOVES the snow.

Quinn started doing lots of new things- including brushing her teeth!

We went to Hawaii for Spring Break. It was so much fun to watch Quinn's love for the beach and we got to go back to the spot where we were married.

Quinn and I flew back to Ohio in April to surprise my parents and attend the annual Patrick family Easter Egg hunt. It was great going back and getting to see everybody and Quinn was spoiled rotten!

Dave finally got a new Jeep. He has been missing his since he traded his old one in for the family SUV.

Quinn got a water table for Easter and we spent countless hours outside letting her play. She loves water play.

Dave and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. We took the day to ourselves and took the Jeep for a scenic drive to Bear Lake. It has been a wild 3 years- one deployment, one baby, one move across the country and 2 new jobs. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Quinn also got a swimming pool- her and Charlie love to play in the water together.

We took a family trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. It was a fantastic trip and we plan to go again before we move.

Quinn and I spent 3 weeks in Ohio during the summer. It was a nice trip because I was super sick with baby #2 and having my mom to help out was AMAZING. We also found out that my sister was expecting baby #2 also! We will be having babies 3 weeks (or less) apart.

My parents came out to visit and we did a lot of sight seeing and went to Vegas. It was a great trip, we love when they come out to visit!

Our friends threw us a gender reveal party and we found out baby #2 is a BOY :). Quinn was not too excited about this news.

She also became a little bit of a diva over the year and her hair grew!

My belly grew also.

Daddy taught Quinn very important lessons. Such as- don't let your mouth touch the whip cream when you eat it from the can!

We went to Ohio again in October to celebrate Nolan's 2nd birthday. It is so fun to watch Quinn and Nolan grow together and enjoy each other's company (most of the time).

We had a lot of fun doing Fall things such as carving pumpkins and trick or treating. We also visited a pumpkin patch and went on a scenic train ride. Quinn was a cat this year and she looked the cutest.

We spent lots of time on Facetime with family and friends. Quinn loves to see who is going to pop up on the screen and she also enjoys "playing" with grandma.

Quinn became a big fan of Minnie Mouse and playing with stuffed animals and baby dolls.

We went to Park City for a "mini" baby moon #2 and took Quinn to see her first Disney on Ice. She loved it and we had a relaxing weekend away from normal life.

We spent Thanksgiving in Denver with family and had so much fun shopping, eating, bowling and relaxing. (Again- I don't know what I do when we visit Denver but I never take pictures!).

Dave spent a lot of time painting furniture for Quinn's new room and she graduated from a crib to a toddler bed. We also spent a lot of time getting the nursery switched from pink to blue. (I will post pictures of the new rooms soon).

Because I was almost 35 weeks pregnant at Christmas we decided not to fly home. I was a little upset about spending my first Christmas away from family but we ended up having a great holiday and enjoyed our time as a family of 3. Quinn was so fun this year and she loved Santa (until she saw him in person and then she was not a fan!).

Santa was good to this little gal this year.

We had Christmas dinner with some friends that were in town and it was a great time. Quinn and Teagen enjoyed their time together. They are so cute!

Our friends Liz and Chris came out to visit the day after Christmas and we were able to watch some Olympic Trials. It was so much fun having them out and I can't wait until they come back.

Then we got to ring in the New Year with family and Quinn and her cousin Braxton got to play together.

We are looking forward to what 2014 is going to bring- mostly the birth of our little man, Leo!

Memories are good, life is good!
