Black Island Farms

Today we went to a farm near our house called Black Island Farms. It was military appreciation weekend so Dave got in for free and I got in for a discount. It was very cute and reminded me of Niederman's Farm at home.

We went on a hayride and got to pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Quinn was great just like she always is. She just goes along with whatever we do. We got two big pumpkins and one little pumpkin for Quinn. It was fun, the guy driving the tractor came out and cut the pumpkin from the vine for you. Well actually he said "if you didn't bring your knife, I can cut the pumpkin for you." We just so happened to forget our knife and he cut our pumpkins.

After the hayride we went over to the rest of the farm. They have a corn maze, animals you can see, pig  races, slides, a jumping house and a lot of other things. It was very slow today because it is Sunday (everybody goes to church and not many people are out and about on Sundays) so they didn't have a lot  of things going on while we were there. We didn't end up doing the corn maze because we both wore sandals and didn't want our feet to get gross. So we are just going to have to go back and do the maze. We also got a pie pumpkin from the farmer's market so that I can make a pumpkin pie.

After we got back from the farm we went on a walk at a cute park by our house. Sammy jumped out of the back of the Pilot and scraped his chin and it was bleeding. Poor little guy, I bet he doesn't jump out again. Now chicken and dumplings are finished in the crock pot and two of our favorite TV shows start tonight. It is a great Sunday.

Sundays are good, Life is good : )

  1. Fun, but seriously how could you forget your knife?! If you do go back to do the corn maze we want to go. Are you really going to make a pumpkin pie out a a real pumpkin? That is impressive. Quinn is so cute I love the pics of her cute little face in the wooden pumpkin.
