After we drove across the country, Dave flew back to Utah to finish up work and such and the kids and I planned to be in Ohio for about 6 weeks until our big move to Italy. We had the best time! I should have done several posts while I was there but it just didn't happen so now here is one big picture dump of our summer in Ohio. I spent over an hour on this post last night and it did not save so there will be no editing! I just want to get this in the books and get our blog printed. :)
Quinn holding Penelope for the first time!
We had a great time at Aunt Sandy's for the memorial day cookout.
We spent countless hours in the pool. Quinn started jumping off the diving board and could swim all the way to the steps by herself.
Grandma and Grandpa's backyard is the best.
We got Kings Island passes so we could go over in the evenings and enjoy the rides. Quinn was so happy she could now ride the Beastie. Leo didn't like riding many of the rides and cried often, he did however love the merry-go-round with the horses.
The girls enjoying KI.
I swear they like it there!
This is pretty typical behavior.
About 700 popsicles were ate over the summer.
Lots and lots of swing time.
After we had been in Ohio for about a week I went upstairs to check on Leo (who was supposed to be sleeping) and found him in bed with an opened bottle of Tylenol. In the mess of suitcases and boxes I have no clue how he found the medicine! There were some pills that were bitten so I called poison control and they recommended we go to the hospital. So Finely (because she was still nursing), Leo and I headed to Cincinnati Children's Hospital around 11pm. They did some blood test and luckily his numbers were negative so we were able to come home after only about a 2 hour stay. Lesson learned that even when traveling to make sure meds (even though we may not know where they are!) are away from children!
We visited the Air Force Museum in Dayton and Leo got an airplane from the gift shop that he still loves and plays with all the time. So I guess the overpriced toy was worth it this time.
I'm not sure what Quinn is crying about this time.
Leo became a great little swimmer over the summer too!
One day we went to Young's Dairy Farm and had the best time! I can't wait to take the kids back this summer.
The big kids loved this slide and rode it so many times. They talked about it for days.
Waiting to ride.
The weather was hot but not too bad. Finley loved all the Grandma time she got this summer.
Feeding the goats was a highlight of the day.
Leo never wants in pictures.
Finished the fun day with ice cream.
Finely is an Ohio girl at heart and loved her first taste of Skyline.
Everybody loves Papaw.
There is always lots of swinging on the back patio.
Our family pictures from Utah came in and I love them!
Finley loved Penelope and reaching for her eyeballs.
You can not go to KI without blue ice cream.
Bowling fun.
She is our happy girl.. as long as she is not in the car!
Quinn on the left and Finley on the right.
Grandma spoiled Quinn and a few special visitors came to bring her some treats! She loved it and talked their ears off. They stayed for much longer than they were supposed to because they were having so much fun!
Leo wanted to join in on the princess fun!
We spent a lot of time with cousins since Aunt Danielle was off work with Penelope.
Serious watermelon eating!
Popsicles and forts are what grandparent's houses are made of!
We had a huge scare with Finley. My sister found a lump on her back so I took her to the doctor. They ran a few tests and next thing I know we were going to meet with Oncology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital the next day. Dave was in Colorado for his Grandma's funeral and made a mad dash to the airport to catch the last flight of the day to Cincinnati to go to the hospital with me the next morning. It was crazy because his car was at the airport in Utah and he was staying at our friend's house. He only had a weekends worth of clothes and ended up being in Ohio for almost 2 weeks. Anyway, we got an MRI and met with Oncology the next day. They were not sure what the lump was but they believed it was not cancer which was a huge relief. After an MRI and 2 biopsies (all of which she had to be put to sleep for...) we found out it was a very rare skin issue that usually presents itself on the skin and not under it. Our team of professionals had not seen it like this before. During this time our orders to Italy got put on hold and our flight to Italy came and went! It was so stressful but we ended up leaving a week later than planned with a healthy baby girl and we could not have been more blessed!! It was a very stressful time and we are so thankful we were with family during it and also at the best Children's Hospital in the country.
Grandpa had to have part of his toe removed while we were home so we spent some time visiting him at the hospital.
The little boys did not like the noise of the poppers.
Getting ready for the Patrick family carnival.
Grandpa was the MC for the day since he had to stay off his feet. Don't give him a mega phone because he will use it!
There were games, a clown, bounce house, prizes, hotdogs, snow cones, funnel cakes and so much more! Plus a firework show that evening. It was better than any carnival I have been to!
Leo loved the water guns.
My kids are always crying in these grandkids pictures.
So much swimming!
Aunt Dorothy allows face tattoos at her house.
We went and visited Aunt Dorothy and went to the zoo and swimming.
Dave was off work for so long that he was able to grow a bread.
Serious cutting skills
We got to see Chad and Courtney.
Making smores on the fire.
Penelope and Finley got baptized but Dave wasn't there because he was driving to Indianapolis to get paperwork for Charlie to move to Italy with us a few days later.
We had a great time at the balloon fest.
Quinn loves celery... she clearly is not mine.
Selling the Jetta was pretty emotional.
We are in Ohio of course there is corn hole.
Celebrating the 4th of July at the parade.
Leo is yelling at me in this picture because I was standing in the street.
With Great Grandma Jean.
I love her face in this picture. She is so good at building with the blocks.
We got fruit from the Hill pharmacy... we will miss them so much!!
We really tried to get cousin pictures but it proved to be challenging!
America!
First pony tail.
Grandpa supervising from the couch.
We had a great time visiting the Cincinnati Zoo.
It was so hard to say bye to everybody! Finley cried the entire way to the airport and our shuttle driver hated it. We headed to the airport with 14 bags, 3 kids, a dog, stroller, pack in play, needless to say we were getting some crazy looks at the airport.
I will never travel with that much "stuff" ever again!
Ohio is always great, life is good!
